My approach to treatment – holistic and integrative psychiatry online

I work with adolescents from age 13, adults and older people – including entrepreneurs, founders and high-level managers overloaded by stress. I very often encounter ADHD in adolescents and adults, frequently diagnosed only after many years. I combine traditional psychiatry with a nervous-system-focused approach that takes into account the body, sleep, relationships and lifestyle. This tab shows what you can expect in practice – step by step, without marketing, but with a clearly described process.

1. Evidence-based medicine

In the first step there is always a thorough psychiatric interview and diagnosis – based on that we make a decision about treatment, including possible initiation of medication. I plan treatment based on current guidelines, your health status, comorbidities, current medications and history of previous therapies.

In the case of ADHD in adolescents and adults the diagnosis is based on a carefully conducted clinical interview, analysis of functioning across different areas of life and – if needed – supplementary diagnostic tools. A prior diagnostic visit to a psychologist is necessary (DIVA, CONNERS, MOXO assessments)

Treatment may include pharmacotherapy, but I always combine it with psychoeducation and recommendations regarding daily organization, sleep and work on executive functions.

2. A holistic view of the patient

I do not stop at psychiatric symptoms alone – we take into account sleep, the level of bodily tension, lifestyle, family and work burdens. Such a comprehensive view helps select treatment that realistically fits your life, not just the diagnostic classification.

In ADHD a holistic approach also means working on sleep hygiene, environmental stimuli, ways of planning the day, support at work or school and adjusting the expectations of others. The goal is to create a personalized "toolbox" that helps you function in a world designed mainly for neurotypical people.

3. Yoga as support for nervous system regulation

I am a certified yoga instructor RYT 500 (Bihar School) and a Yoga Nidra instructor. If this is safe and acceptable for you, I incorporate gentle body and breathwork elements as support for nervous system regulation. These are simple, individually tailored practices – always treated as a complement, not a substitute for psychiatric treatment.

In people with ADHD breathing techniques, bodywork and Yoga Nidra can help reduce tension, improve sleep quality and regulate emotions – especially when the nervous system has been operating "at full speed" for years.

4. Collaboration with families and adolescents

When working with adolescents from age 13, it is important for me to speak both with the teenager and with their guardians – to the extent the patient consents and regulations allow. I help the family understand what is happening with the child's nervous system, how they can support them daily and when it is worth considering additional forms of help, e.g. individual psychotherapy, family therapy or skills training.

With ADHD in adolescents a large part of the work is psychoeducation – explaining where difficulties with concentration, organization or impulsivity come from, and jointly finding ways to function daily at school, at home and in relationships.

5. A clear plan and shared decisions

At the end of each consultation I summarize what we are dealing with and what possible treatment paths exist. I discuss the benefits and possible side effects of medications, suggest tools to work with the nervous system and – if necessary – recommend additional forms of support, e.g. psychotherapy, ADHD coaching or executive function training. Decisions are made together, at a pace that is safe for you.
