If you could change one thing in psychiatric care – what would it be?

In your opinion, what needs to change in psychiatric care in Poland?

Behind the scenes
If you could change one thing in psychiatric care – what would it be?

Every day I listen to patients' and relatives' stories about their contact with the psychiatric system. On one hand there is gratitude for help, on the other – a lot of frustration and a feeling of being 'just another case' in the queue.

That's why I have a very simple but important question for you: if you could change one thing in psychiatric care – what would it be?

What people most often mention

In conversations with patients and acquaintances, similar themes often recur:

  • more time during appointments and less feeling of being rushed,

  • easier access to psychotherapy and support between appointments,

  • less stigmatizing language – more attentiveness and partnership in conversations,

  • better collaboration between psychiatry and doctors of other specialties.

Each of these things can be broken down into smaller steps, but the starting point is one: to hear what is truly most important to people using the care.

Why I'm asking this at Holistica

At Holistica I care that psychiatric care is as calm, transparent and adapted to the patient's real life as possible – not just to a list of symptoms. To do this sensibly, I need not only research and guidelines, but also your perspective.

This question is not a scientific survey. It's an invitation to share your experience: what in the current system hurts you the most, and what – in your opinion – works and is worth strengthening?

Invitation to respond

If you have the space, you can answer this question in a comment, by email, or privately. You can write from the perspective of a patient, a relative, or someone who works in healthcare.

Your answer won't replace systemic reforms, but it can genuinely influence how I design solutions at Holistica – from visit organization to communication style and support between appointments.
